A significant workshop aimed at promoting the leather industry and creating awareness about advanced leather production and testing facilities was organized at the Kanpur Leather Complex (KLC), Banthar, Unnao. The event was jointly conducted by the CSIR–Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI) and the Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC).

A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of the CSIR–CLRI Castor Testing Laboratory at Banthar, which will enable manufacturers to test raw materials and finished leather products locally. This facility is expected to improve quality control, reduce turnaround time, and enhance export competitiveness.

Also present were senior scientists from CLRI, industry stakeholders, entrepreneurs from the Kanpur-Unnao region, and training partners. All attendees expressed optimism that this collaboration would give a significant boost to the local leather industry by providing technical support, skilling opportunities, and state-of-the-art testing infrastructure.
